New Sunday Ritual

I really have no idea how I'd never heard of the once weekly flea market in San Francisco (The Alemany Flea Market).  I mean really, I feel so out of the loop.  My friend told me about this place about a week ago and we decided to get up early and go check it out.  I thought it was great, it was more like thrift store prices than the Alemeda market which is once a month in Oakland.   I found the latter to be a bit overpriced, but this is also coming from me being a avid thrift and bargain shopper.  The market had a bit of everything, from imports to antiques, clothing and lots of orchids and plants.   There were a few booths of vintage clothing that had some great things.  I found a beautiful kimono that I almost purchased, but considering I already have two, I passed.  I did buy some more vintage wooden hangers, the small ones that are really cute, for a great deal.  I'm starting a collection.   I also found the cutest Art Nuevo brass pin with a depiction of a women who looks like a cross between a pirate and a victorian dame.

The vintage doctor bag that still contained all the implements and a death certificate signed by the original doctor from the 60's.  My friend purchased it, minus the implements for 25$, a great deal.  She managed to keep the death certificate as the man was going to throw it away. 

There were all kinds of powders and tinctures, it was really neat.

I already had about 1/3 of whats pictured and was excited to have found a bunch more today!  I'm looking forward to having all pretty hangers eventually.

Ready to Rot

I've been a sick little pirate lately.  It all started when I acquired my boyfriends terrible cold that seemed like the flu the first day then progressed into a never ending cold.  Then I got a pain in my neck which progressed to my shoulders and back.  It got worse when I slipped and fell down some stairs this weekend.  I guess from here things have to get better because if they got worse I might just scream uncontrollably.

While attempting to shop for presents yesterday I found some gems for myself.  Why is this always the case when I try to shop for others?  You know, things that I couldn't resist because of perfect fit and price.  In any case these new jeans are perfect.  They are long, fit like a glove and a bit high waisted to cover up the lady parts that aren't what they used to be, and for 20$ a great bargain for Earl Jeans (originally 118$).  And for the shoes,  I couldn't believe it when I found them, tried them on and they were perfect.  I immediately came home and did some google research which led me to Nordstrom where they were still for sale for 95$.   I don't often buy heels being that I am 5'10 they usually make me feel more like a amazon woman that chic. When I do happen on a pair that are comfortable, uber stylish and with a reasonable heel height I get really excited.  These babies are Franco Sarto"Tokyo's.  The best price I could find online is from Zappos so click the link to be sent there.  I got mine for 45$, so check your local Marshals first.  I now have my perfect Christmas/New years/Birthday shoes.

I finally found a nice beret at the thrift store, it's really thick and warm and a great complementing color to my red hair.  How about these Chanel 50/50 knock off sunnies I found at a local import shop for 8$.  I had been waiting for some knock off's since the originals were out.  Love, I tell you, love!

The fruit of my labor,  holiday shopping is exhausting!  I love how these shoes look vintage and modern at the same time.  They remind me of the chloe' suede multi strap wedges.

True story, the girls and I from work had to wear random/thrown together water proof gear to walk to the trains/busses/home because when it poured down rain on friday none of us were prepared for it.  It is already impossible to get cabs here in SF on friday nights so we had no choice but to brave the dumping rain. I  too am wearing a plastic cap under the weird hippie hat I found at the salon.  I am also wearing my hair color cape because it is water proof and my coat was not.  Susan on the left is a tini little lady who looks like a crazy overweight lady with her bags all under her grey smock and Timberly in the middle was the only one with a waterproof coat and a umbrella.  We learned a good lesson, be prepared!

Great deal of the day!

I just got a similar black version of this DKNY shoe (it has a black wedge instead of the wicker) for 7.99 at my local thrift store today. Being that they are charging 146.00$ online for the brown version, I saved over 130$! I'll take some DKNY for 8$ any day! I know that Cheap Jap would be so proud! I also scored a really awesome 70s, brown, leather, skinny belt with amazing little brass studs and a super sheer, soft, tan, safari like tunic made by DA-NANG that has a super deep v neck which is great for by huge chest. I can wear it with a cute tank or camisole underneath. Now to the scary part. Yea, it wasn't all great deals today, read on......

Todays trip was filled with some terror as I got followed around the store for about 20 minutes by a creepy jerk. Yes, he followed me from the purse section to the women's shoes, up and down the isles too. It was one of the scariest things I have ever experienced. I was even scared to leave the store after I watched him leave. I think he figured out I knew and then walked right out of the store. I waited another 1/2 hour before walking out, myself. I have never felt so terrified that something really bad was going to happen. I figured out almost instantly that he was following and watching me, it was a strange feeling to know that my instinct worked so fast. I did score some pretty amazing pieces today so I guess it was almost worth the creepy asshole to find some great things.

Outfit for a failed excursion

I was getting ready for work, when I got a call that my only client for today had canceled. Her son is sick. This is what I was going to wear to work, but I am no back in my cozies becuase it is freezing here. If I go out today I will most likely wear jeans so I can stay warm.

I have been loving all the nudes and peachy tones lately. This dress was a great find at Ross yesterday, it was only 8.50$. I also got some super cute new flats and some light baggy jeans with holes already in them. I only spent 40$. Gotta love Ross! Let me see here, this whole outfit cost.....jacket 8$, Dress8.50$, Belt 30$, Shoes 8$, Leggings 8$ 62.50! Pretty great!

I had a moment recently where this item would have come in really handy. I was wearing heels to go to a fashion show. I ended up having to walk A LOT farther than I had planned on. Like many blocks longer. I decided since my feet were literally dying and burning, I needed to get a pair of cheep shoes. I ended up going to DSW and finding the cheapest flats I could find for 15$. I worn them to walk the rest of the way to the train, then home. If These Rollasoles had been around I would have saved money and had a perfect pair to keep in my purse for future feet ouchies.

Sales, sales, everywhere!!

What's a girl to do when work is slow and the economy is so bad that sales are everywhere?Break my shopping ban of corse. I Actually didn't spend much money in the long run. Getting dresses for trading in old clothing and shoes that I don't wear, a Zara and Marshalls super sale and last but not least the Goodwill (my new favorite thrift in SF). I live close to many great thrift stores, that are usually pretty picked over, but the goodwill, wow, I am in love. It's only a few train stops away which makes it very easy to get to. And, really, how can you beat Forever 21 for jewelry prices? Don't forget you can click on any photos for more detail.

I found this coat at Marshalls and it was my perfect size, and at 10$, what a bargain. I love the details, the zippers, the belts on the sleeves and the fun sparkle threads running through it.

I am in love with these great heels, they are such soft leather. I have realized if I go up one size in heels they are so much more comfy. These are the second pair of "too big" heels I have tried on and been pleasantly surprised that they fit great. These beauties were on sale at Marshalls for 10$, originally from Tahari they have a great triangular shaped heel.

I was on the fence about this dress when I found it at Goodwill, but when I tried it on it was gorgeous and I bought it! It is a challenging length but I wouldn't want to cut it because the print is so beautiful and being that I am tall I can pull it off well. It was 9$ Love the bows!

This dress is originally from Go international (target) it fits amazingly and Is very vintagey feeling. It was 6$ at Goodwill.

This necklace was attached to a really weird tube top at marshalls, I loved the necklace so I bought them together for 5$. I might turn the tube top which is a pretty teal color into a skirt.
