Family history

This photo was taken in 1930.  My grandmother is the gal in the front with the cute striped socks.  Her (my) family was very poor during the depression.  This photo was taken on a road trip her and the family took from Michigan to Oregon.  They had 7 break downs including flat tires and engine trouble.  They also picked up a dog and had a bed fall out the back.  My grandmother wrote a diary along the trip which I just had a chance to read, it was so lovely to hear a few words along the way.

Look Magazine from 1967

I found this magazine at my local thrift a couple weeks ago. I just love vintage magazines and this one was particularly interesting. It has some really neat pictures of some psychedelic face and body paint, that I believe I have seen before. I got super giddy when I spotted it. There is also a lot about the Vietnam war which is such a historic nightmare. Two of my uncles were in that war and one died (years after the war) because of complications from toxic chemicals he had been exposed to. The other also died of cancer years later, which most likely was due to the same problem although never confirmed. I hope you will enjoy these historic photos as much as I do!

Out and about in SF (Haight street)

My boyfriends parents are in town and staying with us for a couple weeks. While my Sweetie was at work, we took a little trip up to Haight to do some shopping and sight seeing. I needed some things ( 2 colored tights and high waisted leggings) from American Apparel. While shopping at AA I saw a familar face. It took me a few minutes to figure out that Marjorie Conrad from America's next top model cycle 11 was there, working. She answered some questions for me and helped me into a dressing room. It was exciting for me to see her in person, being that I am a long time fan of the show. Continuing on our way I took a few pictures that capture the colorful neighborhood.
