Look Magazine from 1967

I found this magazine at my local thrift a couple weeks ago. I just love vintage magazines and this one was particularly interesting. It has some really neat pictures of some psychedelic face and body paint, that I believe I have seen before. I got super giddy when I spotted it. There is also a lot about the Vietnam war which is such a historic nightmare. Two of my uncles were in that war and one died (years after the war) because of complications from toxic chemicals he had been exposed to. The other also died of cancer years later, which most likely was due to the same problem although never confirmed. I hope you will enjoy these historic photos as much as I do!

Happy 4th!

We ended up at the Legion of Honor today, July 4th. It's a gorgeous old building in Sf, full of really amazing and priceless art. I had no idea it was full of art until we went inside. We then knew we had to see it. I took a few pictures of some of the amazing collection they had on display.

I am wearing 100 percent thrifted today and a DIY necklace.

I had no idea the original "thinker" was in Sf, here it sits outside the Legion of Honor. Also a original painting from the renaissance period, I forgot to write down the painter.

This mirror belonged to Louis the XIV, it is made from gold, diamonds, rubies and emeralds. The drawing is etched and hand drawn by Max Clinger, his art was there for a small time only and was beautiful.

Here is what I wore today. I have realized I need to start wearing more of my huge collection of vintage dresses, they are getting almost no love which is tragic. The weather is finally warming up here again which makes it the perfect excuse to do so.

Paddle boats, ducks, turtles and waterfalls

Golden Gate park has so many fun things to do. On Saturday we went to Stow lake for a paddle boating adventure. It was a gorgeous day and tons of people had the same Idea as we did. The lake is the perfect size to go around about one time in a hour. As you take your journey on the lake you pass Islands with birds and turtles, a beautiful chinese gazebo, a tall waterfall and lots of beautiful trees and nature.

Bad photos for your unpleasure

I'm back to relying on myself to take outfit photos. These suck, but at least you can see my new floral blazer and shoes, both thrifted. The boots are the second pair of lace up boots that I have found at this thrift store, the first ones were brand new Charles David and these new ones are never worn either, not sure if they are new or just never been worn, made by Zodiac. I have been wanting a pair like this that are comfy, easy to walk in and look great. So, yeah, they are perfect. I'm really not as mean as I look in these photos. I have one of the unfortunate down turned mouths, so I look upset when not smiling.

Adventures to snacking land!

My boyfriend and I took a drive on Saturday to go see some of the country side and check out the oyster farms. It was such a gorgeous day! We stopped for lunch at a cute old restaurant that had been there for 65 years, right on the water. We then kept going and stopped at two oyster farms, where we ended up getting 2 dozen oysters. My boyfriend is jewish and didn't have much experience with oysters so I had to shuck them all as he had no clue what to do. However, he did enjoy the fruits of my labor. On the way home we stopped at a little store that sells the meat from Marin Sun Farms and got some meat for the week, Lamb chops and a roast. It was really neat to be in the area where a lot of our organic and local food is produced. We stopped along the road and took some photos of the cute cows, they were so friendly and seemed really happy. Their milk is used to make yogurt for Wallaby organic yogurt. It was a great one day vacation from the "shitty" (city) as a old hippie friend of mine used to call it.

Fashion in art

George Barbier is one of my all time favorite artists. You can see he was inclined to paint beautiful woman with a strong asian influence. I love asian art as well and have lots in my home already. I wish all of his prints would end up lining my home for daily outfit inspiration.

This is what I wore a couple weeks ago to see Tracy Morgan, he was pretty funny but all he talked about was sex. I think he could have been a little more creative. Sex is just too easy and safe. Every time I see a famous person live I wonder why they are all so short.

Fashionable era, the 60's hippies

I'm a huge fan of the hippie fashion from the sixties. Many aspects of the trends are found back in the day. Fringe, native american, ethnic, cut off shorts, head bands and natural long hair are all popular now. I am getting really sick of studs and the punk rock esthetic. I'm going to revive the 60's vibe in my day to day dressing. I'm sporting a very 60's look tonight to go see Devendra Banhart. I'tt try to get a outfit shot to share tomorrow.
