My cute grandpa!
My mom just sent this cute picture of my grandpa to me via Email. He was a hard worker who worked up until he passed away a few years ago. He was also really funny and had jokes that he would tell, most of them regulars that many of his friends and family had all heard at one time or another. I have a few pieces of his clothing that are pretty neat. One being a old cop shirt from when he was a volunteer police officer, the cool thing is that he was always a thin man, it fits nice and snug. I also have a great old plaid wool coat that is almost too warm for california, but I love it. My favorite piece is this great black vest with threads of silver and gold, I'm pretty sure my grandma made it for him. She was a seamstress and made lots of the clothing that the whole family of 8 kids and her husband wore.

Fashionable era, the 60's hippies
I'm a huge fan of the hippie fashion from the sixties. Many aspects of the trends are found back in the day. Fringe, native american, ethnic, cut off shorts, head bands and natural long hair are all popular now. I am getting really sick of studs and the punk rock esthetic. I'm going to revive the 60's vibe in my day to day dressing. I'm sporting a very 60's look tonight to go see Devendra Banhart. I'tt try to get a outfit shot to share tomorrow.

It's only a mild obsession, I swear
I get to go see Devendra Banhart play tomorrow at the Independent in San Francisco. I have lived here for about 2 years and sadly haven't seen very many concerts while living here. I am stoked about seeing Devendra as I have a slight crush on him, really who doesn't. He is a amazing song writer and singer. He has awesome style and was born with good looks. I'll try to get some pictures at the show to share tomorrow.

Lovely lacy ladies
I love the vintage lace and victorian look. These ladies are a bit more adult looking than the typical Gothic Lolita look. I think they all look adorable. I have a huge section of my closet with all cream colored lace, I think there is a reason. Pictures from Dropsnap.

New Pretty Pirate Designs! Spring 09
Keeping with my sewing spree, I have made two original pieces. The dress is made with old tablecloth lace, which is a great way to get cheap lace. I love to recycle old fabrics and give them a new purpose. The shirt is made with part of a skirt I got thrifting that was too long (floral), as well as some thrifted striped material I got in Seattle.
I'm thinking of making some white lace leggings out of the remainder of the lace. I'll post photos if I do.

Antique's in Alameda!
I finally got to go to the outdoor vintage sale in Alameda this weekend. It worked out perfectly because my boyfriend's sister started a craft distillery and they had a convention at the Hangar one distillery right next to the sale. We went shopping for a couple hours then got to go try all kinds of unique liquor from all over the country. Koval was the best, of corse, especially the rose hip liqueur. I ended up just getting a few little trinkets at the sale, 3 broaches, a really pretty vintage bracelet and a little victorian metal thread holder that has cute little flowers etched in it. The booth I got all the things at was having a "everythings 2$ sale". It's hard to find good broaches for reasonable prices at thrift stores, so it was perfect. I might sell some of them in the store.
