Tuesday project day!!

I decided to make a wall hanging today, I had been trying to find something to put over our bed for a good while now. Living in earth quake country we have to have something that isn't going to fall off and bonk our head. I had been searching on ebay and etsy for a asian influenced tapestry or wall hanging and was not finding anything I liked which make me think to DIY! First I searched the web for trees that I liked which helped me get a good feeling of what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted it to be asian art because our bed room is all decorated in asian art. Here are the photos of the finished project! I think our bedroom is finally coming together in my usual mis-mash of colors and textures.

Below is the rest of our bedroom, the first art piece was made by my aunt in the 60s/70s from a kit, it's all made with tini little rocks. I inherited it from my grandparents, who she had made it for as a gift. The jewelry box was a birthday gift from my BF, when I turned 30. The circular art I found at the thrift store for 1.50$ each, as well as the purple velvet curtains (14$). The last piece is the newest find at my fave thrift store, its a silk painted fabric that has been framed it was 12.50$.

that is so cool! forgive me for asking what might be a stupid question (my vision suddenly went from "20/20" to "not so great,") but did you make it out of fabric or is it painted? i can't tell for sure but it looks like you appliqued the branches. (which is one of my favorite under-appreciated art forms!)

either way, total thumbs-up!
